J
oyce Vidal-Thornburg, MA, CT, CSD
CFDM Intern in training

jvidal1@cox.net, (602) 750-9970

Joyce is a “cradle Episcopalian” who has been involved in Christian formation and ministry, both as laity and professionally, for most of her life.   Her yearning for God began when she joined a church choir at age seven and has continued unabated as the weavings of faith and lived experience have flowed through all aspects of her life.

She has been a social worker and a counselor for over twenty years, serving currently as a Bereavement Counselor for Hospice of the Valley in the Phoenix area.  A recent passion for Joyce is spiritual direction, having received her Certification through CFDM, and she is in training to help with future development programs.

“It is an honor and privilege to accompany others as they grow in their relationship with God and discern how the Holy Spirit is bringing about transformation.”

Rev. Debra Asis, Vicar of Church of the Apostles, Oro Valley, Arizona

OvApostles@aol.com; (520) 544-9660

Debra Asis is a faculty partner of CFDM-Southwest, assisting in the development and supervision of students in training to be spiritual directors.  For twenty plus years Debra has lived a contemplative life. The bookends of her day are prayer, with exercise, work, walking and engaging the scriptures in-between. It is especially life giving for her to be in nature. She loves to paint, dance, ski and occasionally write poetry. Debra has navigated several careers including researcher, psychotherapist, program designer and single mom. Her ordination to the sacramental priesthood of the Episcopal Church in 2010 marked the culmination and integration of her life steeped in the Holy Spirit. She hopes for God’s kingdom already and not yet.
