Doug is an ordained Presbyterian minister and consultant to pastors and churches in areas of prayer, spiritual formation, and spiritual direction. He currently serves alongside his wife, Catherine, as an active volunteer at Grace Episcopal Church in St. George, Utah. He is a certified spiritual director, supervises other directors, and guides the Certificate programs in Christian Formation & Spiritual Direction for CFDM. Co-author of Inner Healing and Disciplines of the Holy Spirit, Doug has served as a church pastor, Teaching Specialist for InterVarsity Christian Fellowship, Director of the Office of Christian Community and Adjunct Associate Professor of Spiritual Formation at Fuller Theological Seminary, and Chaplain and Associate Professor of Religion at Occidental College.
Doug loves to hike and explore the wilderness and
has a special love for the Sierra Nevada Mountains of California/Nevada;
and he has twenty years of experience as an 'amateur' stained glass
artist.
But most of all, he loves working alongside his
wife Catherine-at church, with CFDM, and with their six children and
five grandchildren.
Catherine is an ordained Episcopal Priest currently serving as Rector of Grace Episcopal Church in Saint George, Utah. She is a spiritual director, supervisor, leads retreats and conferences, and her particular passion is to work with clergy from all Christian traditions and denominations.
Catherine "fills her well" in the quiet and solitude of the canyons of Zion National Park, just outside of Springdale Utah where she and her husband Doug have built a small second home, future retirement home, and location for select CFDM events. She has a special interest in Celtic Christian tradition, life, and prayer, and is the author of numerous materials that aid others in spiritual formation and renewal.
